If the vehicle has been well maintained and documented: Definitely buy this C5. As stated above, if you needed to buy engine upgrades, or, even a new crate motor, at an $11,000 price tag for the vehicle, you would still be making out ahead. And, as you have discovered from the posts above, many of our members have rides with even higher, and, trouble free mileage on their C5's. Good luck.

I bought my 2000 FRC with 101K for $18K and dumped $4K into it. I love it and it runs as strong as anything I have owned new or old. If you like, it buy it.

If he has taken good care of the car, then 97K is not bad. And the price is certainly very good. Sounds like a good chance to get into a C5.

(sorry for the caps) ITS A STEEEEEAL !!! Dude, look around. An Acura, Accord, Camary, Maxima..... these cars with under 100K miles go for around $10K. Cars like BMW, Infinity, Lexus, and Benz with over 100K miles still go for $10K or more. Yeah, and Im talking late 90s models. JUST LOOK around.

If you can get a C5 for $11K, its a steal. 97K miles is nothing. A guy with Acura will tell you that. And he'll also tell you that his car is "Loaded" with leather seats, stereo, moonroof...etc, etc, and will sell for $12K. So, now doesn't this deal look so much better. A C5, is a the best Corvette made so far (aside from C6, which I'm still not sure of). Its a proven car, no questions about it. A dealer would ask $18K for it, and settle at $14-$15K easily. How I know? A dealer down the street from where I live just sold a Black 98 coupe for $17.5, with 100K miles on it. Thats all you need to know... If you want that dealer's number, I can provide you. But they're called California motors, in Hayward CA...on Mission street. Do your homework/or not. Either way, you need to get this one.

If he wanted to be sure and put some money into freshening up the motor, what would he have to do? My car is reaching 80K miles and I'd like to do a motor freshening. Would I change out the springs, fuel filter, things like that? Thanks.

I wish that I had someone to make a deal like that with me! 11K for a well taken care of C5? I'm pretty sure you can get some excellent finacing (w/o the stealers or the banks). ENJOY!! ENJOY!!

And, even though you've already done the deal here's another data point at 130K+ and counting. And, as you can see from the sig, she does get worked out!

Congrats, and have a good one,
Mike
