Default Shorter shocks

Hi, I lowered my vette and i have read that I need shorter shocks. It does feel like it bottoms out some times in the rear. My question is does anybody know of any shocks out there that won't cost me my life savings? I seen some for like $850

Hey whats up man, I am looking into the same thing. I went up to MSI (Motorsport Image) in Roseville and talked with Mark and Terry about some suspension questions similar to yours and they informed me not to go with the bilsteins. The bilsteins seem to be what is the most popular shock around for the C5 due to the price ($300), but Mark told me that the bilsteins are actually 1 inch longer than the stock shocks fully compressed. So by putting bilsteins on your car and lowering it, you still run a good risk of bottoming out.

Mark recommended I go with the QA-1 adjustable shocks. They are a 12 point adjsutable shock and cost $900 for a set of four. You can also have these shocks custom fitted to order. If you plan on lowering the car at all, they can order them to come in one inch shorter than the QA-1's standard length, that way you wont bottom out. Expensive but worth it.

Then there is always coilovers $2000 and up.

Yea the coilovers are a little out of my price range. I have mine lowered as much as I can. I hace the front bushing cut and longer bolts for the rear. The front seems to ride fine but the back seems harsh. Maybe I should start saving.

I have only seen the bilsteins on ebay go for as low as $300 for a set of four.
