M6 would be the manual 6 speed transmission found in all manual coupe's and convertibles....unless of course somebody has changed that tranny out with an mn12 out of the Z06.

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to ask, weather it be visibly from the outside of the car, or via your rpo codes.

There were a couple of threads a few days ago covering forum acronyms. Not sure if this is in there but you might want to give that thread a once (or twice) over. Not a dumb question if you didn't know what mn6 stood for, but otherwise

There are no dumb questions, just dumb people.

Just kidding...

I think the 3 pedal = MN6 is the easiest way if you are having a non-techie person scoping a potential ride for you...

Or if they see the "MN6" RPO code on the inside of the glovebox...

Or if they can see the 6 speed pattern on top of the factory shift ****...

You know, I've asked my fair share of these type questions in the past. It sure makes me glad I didn't ask this one.

The easiest way is to run behind the car and count shifts. You need to run real fast though or you will swear it's only got one gear.

Now, despite the humor and chiding (all done in good faith here), you now have the answer to your question. Don't ever be afraid to ask a question.

C'mon guys, we were all new to this at one time. MN6 is the six speed trans as you've already heard, and the A4 is the automatic trans. These guys and gals are all really great folks, but alot like having an older sibling to pick on you as well.

from the poster's bio about his 99 vette: "...Also has custom six speed short throw shifter by bpp..." given that, i'd have to wonder why he put that question out here. i yield up front that i've asked my fair share of such ?s over the years. bub

I got a Bassini X (similar to thread #15 above) and so far, I'm pleased w/ it. Popping noises are all but gone. However, I don't notice any performance increases, etc.
