Default immature questions

This has probably been asked before but Im unsuccessful on the search.
Immature I know but what is the best way to get maxium performance outta my c5 auto 98-reg (at the end of the day it has a lot of power I need to use it if I have to)
Having just got it the other night, what the best method for standing start 0-60/100?
Auto or manual? Foot on brake or not?(if so what the damage) traction control or not?
Is the auto slower than the manual or not?
Basic tips please?
Cheers!

interesting questions. even if your profession is robbing banks, you may want to do the fast stuff on a closed track. it'll be much safer for all. just a thought. bub

I don't think this is an immature question at all.
You want speed......or horse power....??

You dont' need a lot of HP to have a very fast car.
First of all, I say Automatic is a better shifter then a 6-speed.

Second you need better gears like 3.73's or 3.90's for much fast times, no HP improvements, but much faster times.

Secondly, get a good cold air intake, like vararam or vortex.

Lastly get some good drag radials or slicks to get best results.

That was the cheap version,.........or you could just Supercharge it and not think about anything else, there's always Heads/Cam and Headers, or Nitrous......

Unless you are a professional driver, the auto will be faster. As for the best way to launch, if you don't want to powerbrake (which will ruin your brakes), just mash the gas and enjoy.

For a good launch, get a nice 3000-3600 stall Torque Converter, install it with you gears and say bye bye to any and everyone at the track with the DR's on there.
