Default How Do I....

....jack up the car using a 4 point frame lift? i really want to lower my car and i finally feel confident now that ive seen pics, but i dont want to use a jack and jack stands, i have access to many lifts on base and its so much easier to have the whole car up in the air and do the front and rear at the same time.

anyone have any advise on where to place the lift points? maybe pics?

THANKS!

You can use a four point lift with the Vette, but you need jacking pucks to lift it without hurting anything under the car. These mount in slots that are located just in front of and in back of the rocker panels on both sides of the car. The pucks can be purchased from Ecklers and other sources and are a great product.

I think somebody even did a post on how to make your own, but you would have to do a search for that one.

Good luck!

if the only way to use the lift without hurting anything is to use "pucks" wouldnt small wood blocks in the same place be just as safe?

are the places for the pucks labeled? or self explanitory? ..... like easy to find, lol??

The pucks are made of a hard rubber type compound and have a metal piece that is attached to one of the flat sides of the puck. The piece is shaped in an elongated oval which is exactly the way the slots look under your car. If you go to the side of your car and look under the side of the car near the front and rear of the door, you will see a slot in the frame of the car. The metal piece on the puck fits right into these slots and hold the puck in place for lifting. These are used by the truck transports or rail transports to secure the car to the trailer, etc.

You could use wood blocks, you just need to be careful that they stay in place when you are putting pressure on them.

The jacking pucks are not that expensive and come in handy every time you want to jack the car up. Look them up on Ecklers and you will see what they look like. Just do a search for them under the C5 section.

I used hockey pucks on my C5, cheap too, two bucks each.

Also to answer your question on being able to lift the car using a lift. You are goin to have to do the same thing as you would jacking the car up. Drive up onto blocks or ramps before being able to get the arms of the lift under the car. You should only have to get the front up on the blocks. I had to do this the other day at my buddies shop. Had to drive up on to ramps before the arms would fit under the car. Hope this helps

Using a lift may or may not be an advantage because you will still need to use a floor jack to raise the control arms when doing your adjusting. It might just be easier if the car was on jackstands so the jack could reach the car.
