Default Thermostat Leaking?

Hello, well today i installed a 160 degree thermostat, and noticed it is leaking a drop every couple of seconds. So as i kept on taking it on and off, i broke a bolt so i had to take off the water pump and i drilled out the bolt just fine. then i put the water pump back on with the gaskets it had and placed back the thermosstat and made sure all hoses were connected correctly. STILL LEAKING! it seems to be leaking from the bottom of the thermostat but i don't know how??? i mean the gasket is on tight and the bolts are in securely. I even went as far as having the gasket in and silicon but no solution! im thinking maybe its one of the gaskets from the water pump so it is running down to where the thermostat might be. i have spent 5 hours on this problem. if anyone has any suggestions please help. i greatly appreciate it..my bext soultion is to buy new gaskets for the water pump and a new gasket for the thermostat.

Man, that sucks!

You may have to take everything off (start with thermostat), let it dry real good, clean the surface really reall good and then take some gasket maker, the orange stuff is the best for that job and as long as you torq the bolts back to spec you shouldn't have a leak. Good luck!

Since you mentioned you broke a bolt,You might of put a hairline crack in the waterpump or thermastat.

i had put that orange silicon and it still seems to be leaking. it very slightly leaks by the bottom bolt of the thermostat. it was the top bolt that i had broke not the bottom one so i dont see how that one could be affected.

How did you break the bolt?Over tightning? Did you check the gasket? Check the thermostat housing on a flat surface, make sure its not warped. The manual says torque thermostat bolts to 89 inch pounds, which is not much.
