What are the differences between the engines from the years 97-98 and those from 99-04. mainly I was wondering why the earlier years had two cables entering the engine through the left fuel rail cover when the newer models only have one? BTW what is this cable? I realize how lame i must sound asking this question , but i HAVE to know (nothing comes in the way of my curiosity...) Why did they make the change and how is this change an improvement?
Thanks

P.S....while were on the topic what other differences occured prior to the year 2000 in the c5 engine?
My understanding is that on the 97-98 cars the fuel pressure regulator is mounted on top of the engine, requiring a return line to the tank. On the newer cars it is mounted at the fuel filter I believe, meaning no return line at the engine. As for being an improvement, most prefer the 97-98 style better. We have bigger injectors too
Over the years, Chevrolet made a number of running changes to the car, some were as simple as colors, others were making some of the optional equipment standard.
And yes to the first question - the '97 and the '98 had what appeared to be two fuel lines, one was a return.
