Default Key fob problem

Everytime I go out to my car to unlock it, i have to reset my key. As soon as I get out of my car to lock it, it already does not work again. I changed the battery as well and it is still doing this. Any clues???

Have you tried standing close to the front of the car and holding the lock and unlock buttons down together for about 7 seconds until the horn chirps? This synchronizes the remote with the car. I just had to do this because my car battery ran low after sitting for about a month.

I had similar problems with mine. I finally bought a new FOB and have had no problems since. If your remote is the original from 1997, it sounds like that may be your problem. Hope this helps.

I assume you are doing the above procedure when you say 'reset your key'. If this is the case and it keeps loosing it's programming it may be that...

The contacts inside the fobs, at least on the <'01 fobs, are pretty flimsy. Open up the fob and look to ensure the + and - contacts are not touching and bend them accordingly. Mine stay programmed for the most part but if I drop my fob I almost always have to reprogram it and I assume this is because the contacts lose contact with the battery or touch each other.

Yea I reset it for the 7 seconds, that's what i mean by reseting it. Yea I tried adjusting the contacts, I could try again but i probably need a new Fob.

Yup I'm having the same problem with mine to and I have a 2000 model. I've tried everything including taking an eraser to where the contact is made and that didn't work either, so I'd say we both need new fobs.
