Holy crap for 29k I'll go burn my car to the ground and start over(thats 5k more than I paid for it a year ago and mines a 2000)!!! How many miles were on your car and how the hell did they agree to pay so much?
I had 29.9k miles on it. The way they told me they determine how much they give is the following: of course condition(mine was almost perfect), mileage, some mods are covered if you can prove(I have documentation on anything and everything that was ever done to this car), and what a replacement vehicle would cost RETAIL in your area plus tax and title. My optioned car in my area from KBB, NADA, Edmunds had prices from 22,600 to 26,835 retail. Add some $$ for my mods(not extensive at all, induction, exhaust, wheels/tires, full brake package) I added up everything I have spent on this car from oil changes, polishes, mods, gas- EVERYTHING(Im a meticulous record keeper) and I've got almost 62,000 dollars in it. So even though Allstate is treating me right, I'm still taking a 30grand beat down minus "driving pleasures"
I think I will be taking the bigger check. I will be replacing it with a new C6 Z06 however for now, then I am going to try and find the best duplicate I can and mod it exactly the same way- you know try to make a clone.
Very cool, Dan. Now, please be sure to post us some pics of your new C6 Z06 when you get it. Best wishes to you.
Sometimes its best to make a claim on your insurance for the damage and let your company go after her company (called subrogation). Don't expect someone not doing business with you to make you the best deal around...it's just business. On the other hand, you may just be dealing with a screwball or incompetent adjuster. I wouldn't waste time with it myself; if the accident isn't your fault, your company won't penalize you if they have to pay for the damage. You WILL have to pay your deductible up front, but IF your company collects from the other insurer, they repay it to you. Call your agent, and if not satisfied with his answer (they can be pretty dumb too), call the nearest claims office for your insurer and discuss it with them. P.S. IF the two companies disagree on who pays what and how much, then it goes to an insurance arbiter, and you can get screwed here, with the decision going against you. So knowing the above, at least you can look at the pros and cons.
