It drives me crazy that on the rare occasion that I have to take the car out in the rain that whenever I open the trunk it dumps water on the rear speakers. I try to do it slow and easy but I often forget or don't have the patience. Do they make something to prevent that?

They changed this in later models (not sure what year). They made the weatherstrip extend down at the bottom to direct water away from the interior of the car.

My 2000 has this, and it still blows.

Mine doesn't have it, so I didn't know if it worked or not. I guess it doesn't!

Drives me insane . You just don't think, pop open the trunk and your rear speakers get a bath...not to mention a nice splashing on the contents of your trunk.

Try not to but when they are calling for potential tidal flooding (I live at the beach) you abandon ship in the rain.

My last car was totalled in a flood. Trying to avoid this:

...as a colleague so kindly demonstrated for me.

My '99 had this problem, but they lengthened the weatherstripping on the hatch in '00 and eliminated a lot of the problem. You can get the weatherstripping replaced, but it may be a little expensive.

I believe a factory tech bulletin was issued on this or it could have been a forum member's fix. Do a search.

I've just gotten used to it,

The same thing would happen to my T/A so I just learned to deal with it..

I just open the trunk up slowly, and let the water drip between the trunk seal gap...

Oh, and its really fun to turn traction control off and do some nice donuts in the rain..
