Anybody Had a Center Console Lid That Won't Open All The Way???
My lid only opens to about a 45 degree, at first I thought maybe thats all it opens up to. My friend has a 97 and it goes up to a 90. It's very tight when I try to open it up anymore and being afraid of breaking it I have just lived with it since I don't use it that much anyway. I haven't really looked at it that close to see what's keeping it from opening all the way, just curious if any of you had this problem and what you did to correct it. Thanks

A little lubricant on the hinges helps too!

This has been posed many times.
Just push it harder - it WILL open to the 90 degrees (unless you have pulled up the hand brake!).
(disclaimer: if you break it, I guess you were right! )
Really, it'll be fine!

The door is double hinged. From the driver's seat, pull the door up and towards you at the same time. It should fully open. Once open, have a cold one and try and figure out why some moron would design it that way! If the clearance with the emergency brake release handle was the issue, why not simply hinge the door from the rear instead of the side. Duhhh!

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You mean I have been living with that POS lid only opening 2" up for the last month, cursing the very ground that all GM engineers walk on, for no reason???? Trying to get things in and out of that stupid small space.
I pulled and pulled until I was sure the hinges would snap!! I couldn't belive that my new baby would have such a poorly designed part.
And to think that all my new freinds here on the best forum in the world were holding out on me, laughing behind my back, waiting for the punch line to the cruelest joke in the world to play its ugly hand!
So, what else are you all holding out on?? Is there really no spare tire? Or, is one hidden somewhere I don't know about? Are the tires on my car really run flats?? Does the traction control really work??
Oh well, guess its time to get out the WD-40 !!!!!!!!!

I too thought the console lid would break if I forced it open. I have been living with the tiny opening, but I am taking a break from the kitchen remodel this morning to install a CLB. Guess I will spend some time lubricating hinges everywhere I find one!!
