My 03 vette only has 24k on it so I am not at that point yet. But I'd like to share about my 97 Z-28 with the LT-1. I sold it with 88K on the meter. I had never cleaned to injectors, and had only used Chev Tret. The interesting thing is that about the time I felt the engine being less than best, we usually went on a trip. After the trip, much smoother, higher mpg, seat of the pants felt quicker. I feel that a good trip will clean, burn, get rid of the junk/gunk/crap or whatever. My LT-1 mn6 was the quickiest Z-28 at our little strip, I always got 29/30 on the road and 19/21 in town. I do plan on the same approach with my vette. Just my weak .02 worth.
The Infiniti & Nissan guys swear by BG 44K. I use exclusively Chevron premium 93 Octane ins all of my Infinitis and my Corvette. I run the Techron cleaner through my tanks every 5,000 miles, and BG 44K once in a while. I have my Q45's fuel rails flushed and a leak-down test run every 60,000 miles.
The Corvette will get the same treatment as the Infinitis.
Some guys have done the seafoam treatment in their engines, but mostly it is used for gunked up oil. Believe it or not, a lot of people who spring for $5k or more for a luxury car are to freakin cheap to change the oil.
I have never had a fuel injector failure in over 1,000,000 miles, with my periodic maintenance. Of course, Alabama gas is prety darn good, compared to some up north with all the winterizer additives and such.
If they used our chemicals, they would swear AT the BG stuff
To be honest most techs or service advisors only know the brand they use and they have no choice or say in what the dealship carries or tries. This is usually dictated by the owner, purchasing dept. or corporate for the national dealers.
