I am tired of paying the dealer to do my injector cleaning every 20K or so, They raised the price this year from $90 to $135.
Is there anywhere a person con get a cheaper version of a fuel injector cleaner that hooks up like the professional ones? I know they use to sell kits for around $50 a few years ago where you just bought a canister for it.
Go to an auto parts store and buy a bottle of Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner for $7. Add a bottle when you go for a fuel up at the gas station. It will clean the injectors, fuel sending units, etc. No oil change necessary either.
Don that, Everything I read tesll me that the additives just don't clean as good. My car is my daily driver. I can feel the difference when it is due. Additives just don't seem to do the trick.

Did you add two bottles at once? One bottle is only good for like 10-12 gallons of gas.
Actually I added 1 bottle in about 5 gals of gas and ran it down, then tried it again. When it still acted weard, I brought ti to the dealer and got their cleaning. It ran a lot smoother. I have almost debated on removing all of the injectors and clean them. I change brands about every 5 or 6 tanks as many have suggested to keep the particles from one type of gas building up. but I have 67K on my car now and it feels boggy(for lack a better word)
Am I learning something here? For the most part my Corvette gets driven 3-4 days a week and I would have never thought of having the injectors cleaned since I always use Chevron with techron. I know injector cleaning has been recommended by most dealers but figured it was more for their money coffers then a benefit to me.

.. at 60k now .. i've never cleaned my injectors .. they got done not too long ago thanks to some bad gas but aside from that .. nothing.
Well, I don't know about the the rest of you,but I do drive mine every day and i do notice the fuel milage difference as well as a hessitationand a little sputtering now and then. Maybe it is the gas, but everytime I have them cleaned, I notice a great difference in performance and fuel milage.

there's a couple more in wa state, search 'fuel injector cleaning' at goolge
the injectors can be removed from the intake manifold in about 10 minutes, make sure pressure is relieved from the rail, disconnect elec. at each inj., remove 4 bolts that hold the spider/rails to manifold, pull inj. out of spider
car will be down for a couple of days, but this is probably better than the dealer running the car on a inj. cleaning bottle directly to the rail
it would be interesting if someone actually had a before and after dyno test on the inj. cleaning

Have you ever tried BG 44K? This is the stuff a lot of dealers use first to clean injectors. It's industrial strength and costs about $20 a can. One can does a tank full. I also use a bottle of Techron at every oil change, but I use BG 44K if I think I have a serious problem. I've never had to have injectors cleaned otherwise. You can get it on-line or at some auto parts stores.

Sorry but you are getting ripped off. Just add two bottles of Techron at every oil change and you'll be fine. IMHO
You will find that this is precisely what the Service Tech's do at the dealerships is to add TWO bottles of the Chevron Techron II to a full tank of gas. Unless, your car is actually presenting with the codes and symptomology requisite to a formal dealership fuel injection service, or decarbonization procedure.

Not all of them. I work for a company that sells the can that hooks to the fuel rail and restores injector flow to OE specs. and we sell to many dealers. NO tank additive can do that, they can only keep the injectors clean (maintain).
