Default Key Question

Anyone know what the dealer charges to get a new key made? Mine only came with one key and one fob. I can get the fob online pretty reasonable. Car is 02 vert if that matters.

Thanks

You can also get the key on-line. You need to know the VATS code first, which a dealer can tell you by reading the code. Then you can buy the key on line for a lot less than a dealer, who I think is up in the $40 range last time I checked.

Get it from the dealer. Mine quoted me $15 for the key and a $10 security check BS charge for them to look it up. $25 out the door.

Just about any good locksmith can make you a copy, the resistor keys are not unique to the Corvette. A good shop can make a copy just from your original, you don’t need to find out anything. I had a local place make one when I had to have a key made for the house. Cost a little less than the dealers in my area.

Pretty good price from a dealer.

I went today to get one after an oil change, the itself was $47, and the key fob was $90 or so, with a $50 fee for the programming.

I did not spring for it, I only have one set with the car because I bought it used

hope this helps...
