I had my black Z at a small restraunt/pub on Friday night. Guy comes in and asks who has the dirty black Z06 in the parking lot. Turns out he's a detailer. I told him I'm still trying to wear the tires down - we talked, he understood. I'm 49, use the car every day it's not pouring rain (too loose with wet roads to be fun). BTW, it wasn't really dirty, just a little dust, wheels blackened some with brake dust etc.
Drive it, otherwise you'll never be able to use even a small percentage of the capability of the car, and that's what it's all about (for me at least).
I live in Jacksonville, needless we get some rain...
I love driving my Z in the rain, it grabs better than most stuff Ive driven wet and if Im really doin it right that ABS active lights up to help me keep er straight.
What kinda tires and inflation are you running? F1 supercar's are great wet tires.

I've got the SCs running the recommended inflation. I'd much prefer my wife's SAAB in the real wet weather. My car hydroplanes on standing water above 65, and rear wheel traction on just a wet road is not the greatest either. I do my practice ralley driving in the snow, something you guys in FL don't see except on Miami Vice . I'll start a war here, best car in the snow for fun driving is a rear wheel drive 5-spd, turbo Volvo. In the NE we got all our rain for the summer in October, so didn't get to try it often this year. Stay dry in FL, keep the shiney side up.
everytime I get on here you guys make me want to go drive my Z! I've had mine for about three months, 3k miles and two track days at Rockinham. It wasn't easy to track it to the track the first time but I'm addicted now! Can't take it to the crave, kids can buy their own!
I put 500 miles on my C5 Z06 last year. I know....I know.... I'm supposed to drive it not baby it. BUT I want it to last until I die and at 62 with my health being semi-ok I hopefully have 10 to 15 years left. That means a lot of Sunday drives until I get say into about the eighth year when I can start driving longer and meaner.
I am pacing myself too, but that is just crazytalk.
Well, I bought mine two weeks ago tomorrow. I have put 1243 miles on it . Now I think I should throw in that I picked it up in Conneticut on a Monday morning and drove it all the way back to St. Louis, MO in one day (1138 miles) . That was FUN!! Only got stopped one time by the coolest Trooper in Ohio (no ticket) !! Since then I have done nothing but work. But everytime I open my garage I start drooling.. It will be on the street every chance I get!!
Don't understand how someone cannot drive this car every chance he/she gets. It gets good gas mileage, is comfortable,.
It will not appreciate in value, not an investment.
I drive my 02 every day when the weather is good, which is kind of **** because they do have windshied wipers, traction control, ac/heat,etc.
I bought it to enjoy it, just like the country club golf course membership.
Bottom line, we are all different and you should feel free to do what you want with it. Drive and have fun with one of the best Vettes GM has ever produced.
At age 58, I don't know how long I will live. At a certain age, I suspect that I won't be able to drive a Z06 the way I do now. So, I drive it as much as possible. I have 39,000 miles on it, and can only drive it 7 months a year.
I plan on getting a 2007 Z06 and driving it a lot more. I am not savings it for the next owner.

You also drove it after the roads were sanded and salted from wed/ thurs. snowfall. I can't do that. It's supposed to rain heavy tomorrow so the roads will be clear of the dreaded salt and I'll be on the road again

Hoogbest,
Enjoy your Z everyday! I hope it brings you the same happiness that it has for me. Don't worry about things that you have no control over, live life to the fullest and take her out and stand on it!
