I put 500 miles on my C5 Z06 last year. I know....I know.... I'm supposed to drive it not baby it. BUT I want it to last until I die and at 62 with my health being semi-ok I hopefully have 10 to 15 years left. That means a lot of Sunday drives until I get say into about the eighth year when I can start driving longer and meaner.

Well, I'm 63 and have a "slightly" different philosophy. At age 44 tests showed I had a fatal virus, and 3-5 days to live. I was a sick puppy, but obviously the med folks were a bit wrong. But, I did get an "awakening". Yah, I saved for a nice retirement. And I retired at age 54.
I don't put off ANYTHING FUN that I can do TODAY.
I put off a LOT of stuff that is not important.
My adult kids can clean up the messes in the garage and computer den in return for inheriting my money.
16 months and 17,500 miles on my '04 Z16. I ENJOY IT NOW !!!
I may not be here tomorrow.
For sure I won't be here "someday".
I'm taking ya'lls advice. Im 22 and have put 9k on my Z in the 5 months ive owned it. It would be a shame if i died tomorrow with tread on the tires and gas in the tank!
Although I am of a younger generation, my motto is "positive thinking equals positive results." Think positively that you will live a LONG and HAPPY life and you will. No one can take away your happiness, you can only give it up. It is a challenge many times I am sure, but you have a supercar in the Z06, consider not having any regrets with anything you do from here on out with your life, including the car.
I had my black Z at a small restraunt/pub on Friday night. Guy comes in and asks who has the dirty black Z06 in the parking lot. Turns out he's a detailer. I told him I'm still trying to wear the tires down - we talked, he understood. I'm 49, use the car every day it's not pouring rain (too loose with wet roads to be fun). BTW, it wasn't really dirty, just a little dust, wheels blackened some with brake dust etc.
Drive it, otherwise you'll never be able to use even a small percentage of the capability of the car, and that's what it's all about (for me at least).
All of you have good thoughts.....perhaps I'll revisit my Sunday only decision. Thanks for the advice AND thanks for not being rude, smart A S S, snide, insulting and all of the other ignorant responses some people give on this forum.....you know.....the wannabees who will never be and must verbally abuse others to make themselves feel that they are ok. Well they're not.....we are!
