Hey guys, almost had my car chosen until I found a vert that I like. I don't see how this couldn't be a repost but after searching for half an hour I couldn't come up with enough anecdotal evidence. I heard that during the c5 era, the vert leaking problem/wind noise was fixed. I am looking at a 2000 vert with low miles.
Do any of you vert guys have problems with the window sealing (i.e. leaking/wind noise) The car will be garaged but it WILL be washed a lot and may get caught in the rain. Just interested if all of you vert guys have leaky verts during washes, etc.
I haven't had any problems with my '03. If I direct the hose right at the door window seal, I do get a few drops on the inside of the glass. It is very few, and never any problem in the rain, at least the very few times I have been caught out.
Bought 02 vert used in June; drove 150 miles home in rain w/o problems then or since. It's not my daily driver, but I'm not afraid to get it wet/dirty.
The forum consensus appears that routine care with RaggTop will keep it in good shape.
Those rubber seals on the convertible top can be ajusted outwards so as to form a tighter fit with the window. Or you can buy new seals and fit them properly. Also, the window can also be 'tilted' inwards a bit if necessary. You get in from the bottom of the door. Then you should be nice and dry inside.
My vert leaks on the drivers side in a downpour. Also can hear some wind noise @ 80. Passenger side seals great, no noise or water. Haven't tried adjusting anything yet as it rains less than 9in a year here.
Forgot to mention, car has 36k miles, and top looks new.
I have a 2004 with 1800 miles and when I wash and rinse it with normal water spray from the hose nozzle a small amount will get on the seat bolsters both sides. I just place folded towels on both sides to catch the water that gets by the seals and its not really a problem. I have not been in the rain yet so don't know how it would fare then but I assume what I have seen so far is because of the pressurized rinse.
Regards, Greg

The top on my 2000 vert still seals just as tight as ever. No leaks. No wind noise.
Funny thing is that my previous 1999 Coupe had really bad wind-noise and some leaking on the passenger side of the targa top. So when I bought the vert, I was expecting even worse. Quite a pleasant surprise.
