Corvette was a Naval warship class long before GM picked the name for their Sports Car.

"supposedly"? The Corvette is named after the Navy's class of ship. "CORVETTE"..it is in the history of the GM Corvette.

Just a short note here... The Corvette was a British Man -O-War....
Yes, the name came from that class of warship.
