Theoretically, if you were to replace your 17's with 18's keeping the same outside diameter the ride should be worse. This would be because you would have 1/2" less sidewall on the 18" tires. However, if you are going to be replacing your stock 17" goodyears with another brand of tire in the 18" size, you will most probably improve the ride. I have 18" front and rears on my Z06 with the same overall diameters as stock and the ride is the same if not better with the Michelin replacements. Goodyears are notoriously hard riding tires compared to other brands, especially if you still have the runflats.
