Default Halltech Stinger and sound

Hi all:

I just ordered the Halltech Stinger, and was wondering if anyone here has noticed any difference in sound from it. Can you tell that the car has an intake without physically looking under the hood - via sound?

My exhaust note changed slightly, other than that nothing..Most people wouldn't notice.

I've only had mine on for 3 days and at first did not notice any difference. However, now (maybe because the computer has "learned") when I go WOT there is a big difference at high rpm's. Much deeper than before. Don't know if it helped much in performance but I am happy with it.

After I installed my Stinger I definetely noticed an intake roar at WOT. Don't know what it sounds like from outside the car but it sounds awesome from the inside!

i have an 04 A4 with stinger intake.
100% bone stock my best quarter time is 13.33 at 103 mph in 85 degree weather

added stinger intake and b&b bullets, went 13.15 at almost 105mph in 75 degree weater, same track, byron il

cant notice gain on the street but its there if you take it to the track.
This is just a comparison for you guys wondering what 100%stock runs, oh i have 3.15 gears

I would fathom that you'd more like hear a difference if you have a stock exhaust. My Borla sound dominates anything that might be coming from under the hood, especially at WOT!

Well, I have straight through GHLs, so I would imagine that may lessen the sound difference a bit.

Yup, the Stinger was the first performance addition I made and I heard it over the stock exhaust. Even when I added a TI exhaust I can still hear it, but then again the TI's aren't that loud either.

You can clean it with Simple Green and oil with K&N oil.

1) Spray thoroughly with Simple Green.
2) Hose (low pressure) from the inside-out.
3) Shake vigorously to get most of the water out.
4) Allow to dry for at least a day, maybe two.
5) Oil lightly.

I can't relate to the Halltech Stinger, but with my Halltech Tric, when you apply the gas, you can hear a high pitch whistle.

Hey Dave,
how do you oil lightly? Is there some special spray oil or what. BTW, Dave and I have the cool air mod, which I think is half the equasion. Look at the Halltech site for Daves instructions. I have installed the stinger, GHL cat back and had the computer programed, and those 3 things make a major seat of the pants difference. Before those mods the car would hardly break the tires loose at WOT from a stop. I now have trouble going in a straight line, as the car smokes the tires all the way through 1st and into second, when I usually lift while in 2nd gear because it starts to go sideways.I'm talking about an A4 here.

Same setup I have, ..... Headers and Cats next year....Yes, it is slightly louder at WOT, I like the roar from the engine bay...nothing like a stack of 4 2-barell webers with velocity stacks like the good old days, , but a nice addition, and a tiny bit quicker too.

I love the sound, I notice a little roar in the hood now from the stinger. Anyone know how efficient the stinger is, as an air cleaner?
