Default Need some brake help

I'm going to replace the original brakes on my '02 next spring, and I need a recommendation on what pads to use. I don't race the car but it gets run a little hard once in awhile. I'd like something that lasts, and doesn't make too much dust, but gets you stopped in a hurry if need be.

I would appreciate any help, thank you.

I just replaced my pads with ceramics from Autozone. I think the brand was Morse. They stop about as well as the stockers, and I can already tell that there is less brake dust. Two weeks and my wheels are still clean. All for around $30-$40.

AC Delco Durastop Ceramics will definately not dust much. But depending on what you mean by "gets run a little hard once in awhile" understand that these brakes will not give you the same performance as even stock when they are heated. The term "little hard" is very subjective. To me thats 260 degree oil temps! To you it may mean something else. I'll tell you this much, I wouldent want ceramic brakes when getting oil temps in the rang of 260 for any length of time. I use Hawk HP+ that dust tremendiously. A 30 minute trip will coat all rims with a good coating but I like to stop and deal with the dust. Just me. These are great if you dont like dust on your rims. Thats what they were designed for.

Thanks so far. I don't run it like torch does, so maybe the stock type parts are fine for me. Keep the comments coming, I really appreciate the help.

I use the Durastops on my 03 coupe and like them. Not much dust and they seem t do and excellent job for the street.

Adequate for a daily driver. However, if you want more stopping power (more bite) Hawk, and, Performance Friction Brake pads, etc., will do the job, but, dust all your wheels, too. Your choice.

The stockers will give you what you sound like you need. What with the large price reduction from GM, they are also now more affordable too. Call Fichtner Chevrolet at 1-800-234-5284 (they're in Mountain Time Zone and still open now) or Fred Beans. HTH
