If the "SpongeVette Report" is right then my Vette was built and born within hours of my 23rd birthday.
2004 Millenium Yellow Convertable.
Born: 03-26-04 / VIN:126046
(c5registery puts that VIN on 03-24-04 I think.)
03/24/04 03/26/04
The information Sponge Vette provides is from the GM Vehicle Inquiry System (VIS) and is reliable. In one of his past posts, he said that the build date or born date that he was able to post is the day that the vehicle is fired up and driven off the line for the first time.
According to what was said at the Assembly Plant web site when they once published the same information now found at the C5 Registry site, the VINs/Job Numbers shown at the C5 Registry site are taken at the start of the plant's General Assembly Trim Department. And, as you are seeing for your own car, it can be several days or more before the car is actually completed, depending on the day of the week the car started through the Trim Department. The build date for our car is the day after the date shown at the C5 Registry site.

So, following this train of thought, if the C5 Registry site shows our VIN on Jan. 13, 2000, then it was actually built on Friday Jan. 14 or Tues. Jan. 18 (after a holiday)?

Good possibility, but you cannot be 100% certain using the information from the C5 Registry site to determine your car's build date. I've seen some with build dates that are days or sometimes even weeks after the date shown there, especially during those times the plant closes for vacation breaks and the like. Have your GM dealer run you car's VIN through GM's Vehicle Inquiry System (VIS) for it's service history and build info. The build info portion of the inquiry will give you the exact build date for your car without having to guess. If you can't get your dealer to do it, several Forum members here have access to GM's VIS. Start a new post in C5 General requesting your car's history/build info and provide the VIN in your post. Hopefully, one of these members will be along shortly and provide you with this info. Good luck.
