Default ZO6...Kinda

OK, here's the problem. I purchased a very nice '98 Torch Red vert (not ZO6) about 6 months ago. Fairly stock. Truth is I fell in love w/ the car on the test drive. Over the past few months I'v decided that I really want a ZO6 now. I'd love the extra performance, few extra features, etc. I don't want to go throught the hassle of selling mine then "upgrading" to a ZO6 at this point. So, question is: Is it considered "not cool" to add the brake ducts, emblems, etc to just make mine look like a ZO6? Don't get me wrong, I would never put anything that said ZO6 on the car, just the LS1 emblems, etc. I would never attempt to "trick" people into thinking it's a ZO6. I just like the look. Is that cool or "dork"?

Working brake ducts and LS1 emblems are not dorky. No one will think your Vert is a Z06. Just don't use the stick on fake ducts

I would'nt put the Z06 badge on.... because it's not a Z06. Performance mods and other 'emblems' are ok as long as they are congruent with your car IMO.

You said ducts and emblems.. no mention of performance.,..BUT !!!! Your topic line shows your true feelings " Z06 Kinda" is is in NO way a Z06, and not even close.......
So it would appear you like ducts and emblems... you walk a fine line with ducts and emblems... but it's your car.... what do you care if we think it is dorkey..... if you like the look then, thats all that counts...

I've got a vert and just orderd the brake ducts for mine. The fake stick-on's are for ricers. You don't want that. Mine will probably stay in the garage for about 6 months until I work up the nerve to cut my car. Stay away from the Z06 emblems. Unless you want to be laughed at by someone driving a real Z06. A friend of mine did that to his Benz. He changed the 5 for a 6 on his S500 and added the V12 on the side by the rear door. Everybody has been making fun of him for doing that.

Get the Z06 brake ducts (the real, functional ones), a Ti exhaust, and maybe a set of Z06 0r Z06 lookalike wheels (the black motorsports would look great on a red vert) and you're on your way to a sharp and functionally better C5 -- and not a poser at all. ;-)

Sounds like good advice. Just what I wanted to hear! Evil, that pic is awsome! Love the wheels too. I for sure don't want the "stick-on" ducts..I agree. Where do you get the real cut-in type? Thanks for all the comments guys/gals.

With what you mention, it seems OK to me. I have the Z06 front screens, functional brake ducts and had chrome reproduction Z06 wheels on mine and think it looks great. Most will agree, as long as you don't put actual Z06 emblems on the car, it's

I have the ZO6 titanium exhausts, and ZO6 sway bars, and am looking for ZO6 springs....You can easlily build an engine with more power than a stock Z, and upgrade transmissions and diffs, but don't forget the handling!

Sounds like reasonable appearance mods to me. Put some new gears in 'er, an LS1 edit with new airbox and you'll perform better as well.

I think the brake ducts are cool but it won't add any ZO6 performance!

As others have said stay away from the emblems. Some A-hole asked me if I put the emblems on my Z myself(BMW punk), First I told him to F-off, trying to see if he wanted to fight. Then as a realized he was a wussy, I told him yeah and its got a supercharger 4 cylinder. Back on topic.. I saw a Z with custom badges that said 460hp to each his own i guess.
