C5 Shfter Boot
I am purchasing the C6 six speed shifter for my 2000 C5. Is it difficult to modify the C5 shifter boot or is best just ot buy a new boot that fits the C6 shifter? What do you have to do to modify the C5 boot? Thanks in advance.

The top of the C5 boot is glued together. You can feel the glued area when you get it off. Just cut the top off just barely below the glue then invert it over the C6 **** after every thing is in place and secure it with a THIN electrical tie wrap. The notch in the C6 **** isn't big enough for the leather and a large/wide tie wrap. After the tie wrap is on, lower the plastic surround down around the **** and back into its hole and your done. Piece of cake.

I modified my C5 boot as described above, but took the **** to a plumbing supply and bought an o-ring to fit snuggly in the ****'s groove. This holds the boot on nicely without the bump of the ziptie.

Try Vette Essentials. owner Ken King will sell you a shifter boot specifically for the C6 shifter modified for our C5 configuration. Mine looks great. $55.00 but well worth it.
