I have tentatively made arrangements to make this switch also. According to everyone if you can make a straight swap it is not as bad. Have to reflash the PCM, wiring harness is different so you have to contend with that. You need to decide on what you want to do with differential. Probably want to go to 3.42 not whatever one of the two you have in your A4.
I really love my car and have spent a lot of time caring for it and making the mods I want. I just would rather have an MN6. I have been in contact with two other forum members who have done it and they are both very happy. There were some minor bugs with the wiring i.e. cruise control but taken care of pretty quickly.
Probably is easier to buy a manual and trade the auto. However, in Michigan I figured out i could make the switch and get out of it way better than just paying the sales tax on the trade since we get banged for the whole price not just the difference.

i'm curious.
why did you buy an A4 if you want a M6?
it seems like buying a FRC and making it into a vert!
personally i love my A4 vert. especially in traffic. and the best place for your hands is on the wheel.
I'm doing research here and thinking on doing it myself. I have everything to do a swap but it seems that all the local shops in my area (So CA) refuse to do a job like this. Just ask CF member REDEVIL, He is going through a pretty sh!tty experience even with one of the best Corvette shops in the country!
