Default New Nitto's Installed!

I had Nitto 555's installed this morning (Replaced the Runcraps!), and I cannot believe the difference in the car! The noise level alone is reduced 99%, and the ride and handling is so much better, it's hard to believe! Used the standard 245-45-17's and 275-40-18's, and they look great, and drive incredible! If your on the fence on what tires to buy, definitely consider these. A friend has them on his 99' and has over 40,000 miles, and they still look great! Can you tell I love these tires?

Ditching the runflats is the way to go!!!

I heard all the talk about tire noise and the rough ride that I didn't seem to notice much until I switched to non-runflats.

Congrats.

Thanks for the info. I need a new set of tires and have been checking out the options. This is another one to look into.

Loose the run-flats. I went to Michelin Pilot Sports, and carry a cell phone and AAA card. My wife accused me of trading cars because the ride was so different (read better).

I switched in the spring time to the Nittos and love them. I found that when the tire pressure gets below 35 the rear end get squirely in a hard corner. At the track(road course) I use 37 psi cold pressure and it climbs to 40-41 with use. Anything less and control suffers. The runcraps because of their stiff sidewalls could be filled to 32psi and run just fine. Now that you have gotten rid of the runcraps you can align your car to z06 specs and increase the camber. You want to talk about turn in and control, get it set to -1 camber, max caster, 0 toe in front and -.7 camber, 1/8 toe in rear and you'll wonder if you're in your old car still. The specs are good for street use and okay for track use. But anymore and you'll wear out the tires. The softer side walls allow a more agressive alignment. Firestone has lifetime alignment program of $150 upfront and nothing after that.

I paid $818 out the door, which included free replacement certificates, and lifetime balancing and repairs. Purchased at my local America's Tire in Simi valley, and Matt, who worked on my car, gave it the White glove treatment. I would highly recommend them, as they went the extra mile in treating my car and wheels so carefully.

555 treadwear Rating is 300. If you want traction at the track go with with 555-R for strip or 555-RII for road course. We are running 555-RII's (285/35 ZR18 & 305/35 ZR18) traction & handling are awesome...unless it rains!

Love my Nitto's. In fact I'm waiting to get my car back from The Docs with the Nitto Drag Radials installed out back. I kept the 555 Extreme Zr's up front. Great tire

Has anyone had these and the Goodyear GS D3s. I have the GYs now. Love em, only getting around 20,000 out the rears, a little better on the fronts.
Been thinking about trying the Nittos next.
