Is this an alternator problem?
When I drive my '01 at night, the headlights will slightly dim just for a second every now and then. Everything else is fine.
I know these cars have some alternator issues, does anyone suggest beating it to the punch by putting in a new alternator before it goes out?
They do? I''ve not heard of any common alternator problems on C5's.
Anyways, yes, the slight light dimming thing is relatively normal, and not related to alternator issues, more related to the rather weak grounding system throughout the car if I recall.
Had a similar problem on my 98 vert...got to the point that I was getting a charge system fault on the DIC....had the batt and alt. checked and both were working fine...I traced it to were the wire that comes off the alt and goes down to the starter before going to the batt...took the wires off the starter cleaned them and the starter conection(wire brushed) and then reinstalled the wires to the starter....haven't had any problems after doing this.
