I am currently installing a two post lift. Someone told me that there is a safety device that you can mount on the ceiling of your garage (directly above the vehicle) that will automatically shut of the lift when it is activated which prevents the vehicle from hitting the ceiling. I have never seen or heard of this before. Anyone out there know of such a device?
The only think that I can think of is the stop switch on top of the lift.
I'm having a two post installed in a couple of weeks and the dealer told me that they would put the "stop bar" on a couple of 2x4's spanning the joists so that vehicles won't hit the joists.
It's a Rotary A10ip with the limit switch on the top. I would assume other lifts have them as well?
It's either that or an "electric eye" like a garage door uses..

Robert,
Ours is a 2-post Rotary and that would be my guess also.
