Default Wide tires, what offset?

Planning on buying zo6 repo wheels
Size 17x9.5 front
18x10.5 Rear

Very interested in using the Nitto 555dr tire for the rear which is a 305/40/18. What offset should the wheels be to make these tires fit and not pop out of the rear fender? Would a 56mm offset front wheel and back wheel be ok? Can it be done with out a tub? I want a clean look, but want that fat tire back there. I have searched but have not come up with a definate answer.

Thank you for your help and time.

Forgot to mention the car is a 2000 coupe. I am also thinking of putting 275/45/17 in the front. Do you think that size of a tire is too large for the front? I am looking for all around performance, but this is my daily driver.

Thank you.

I had 18 x 10.5's, thin spoke repo's on with 315's and they stuck out less than a qtr inch, looked flush unless you got close and took a good look. I am not sure of the offsets on the wheels though, the wheels were from Bob's. I would say 305's would be flush or very close to flush, 295's are just inside of flush with the wheel well.

I ran 285's on the front on 18 inch rims and they fit nice.

Where did you see a 305/40/18? They make 305/35 or 305/45, not a 40 series

Also have heard 255/45 is pushing it for the front, no way 275/45, you gotta get a smaller sidewall ratio when you go wider.

You are correct about the sizing. my mistake in my post, I meant 305/45. I do have the car lowered to the max on stock bolts. I hope this does not mean I would have any rubbing issues.?

Where have heard about the fronts being too big? I have heard many people go up to a 275 or even a 285 front tire. Isn't the oem zo6 front tires 265? Are you saying I could go wider, but I would need to consider like a 40 or 35 series?

Thank you so much for help.

305/45 will not work either, you will rub, even if you had stock height.

Saw about the fronts in a post a day or so ago, and yes many go to 275 or even wider, but must go with smaller sidewall like 40/35

Check out this site: Tire Calculator It will help you see why these tires you are trying to use will not work and hopefully get you some that will. I know tires are a major PITA sometimes, I am going through it too.

Both widths you mention will fit, but you will need to run 35-series profiles on both. I have 295/35-18's on 11" wheels in rear and they fit fine on a very lowered car with no rubbing, 10 mm wider will make no difference, however 295 is a perfect size. BTW, I have 265/35-18 in front with 10" rims, also with no problems and could have used 275's.

Thank you very much for your help. I will use that tire size calculator to figure out what I can do. I guess I just dont want to buy some repo wheels and then find out I bought the wrong wheel size for the size of tires I want. What a PITA.

Just another FYI, repo wheels weigh A LOT more than stock wheels, keep that in mind.

I understand that, thank you for your help. Is there a 305/35/18 tire made? I cant even find one now in that size. I found a 315 but I dont want to go that wide. I guess Im being too picky.

You are welcome, glad I could help. As for that tire size, the Nitto DR is in that size, so you should be set
