I tried the six inch from the top drop and my drivers side of the hood never closes correctly. I usually grab a nice soft towel and push it closed from the center of the hood.
I can't get mine to latch both sides unless I actually give it a light push as I release it from about 12 inches. Seems to want to latch only one side otherwise, then I have to go back inside and trip the release again (pita). Same problem on the other end of the car - hatch won't latch unless a door or window is open - also a pita....
With my Stingray it always closes from the 6" drop.
However, the Z16 has the carbon fiber hood and there is just not enough weight to close it by droping. Not even one side closes.
So, I have to do the push and wipe method.
(Push down on both sides and wipe with a Micro fiber rag)

Mine was exactly the same way. I adjusted the rubber stop down a few turns on the side that wouldn't catch. Worked perfect after. You may want to give that a try.
