How many of you guys don't run a front plate? I talked to a couple of county police in my area and they said, normally unless the driver is cutting up, they don't worry about it. Fine is like $54.00, plus cost of court. Now, the State Police is a different story.
I haven't had any problems with the local LEO's around here in Tidewater. Been stopped twice by the state guys on 64 and 95, no tickets though I run one now though on an easily removable bracket on the Tiger Shark front end
I saw a black/black Vert with no front plates this past Saturday. Damn thing looks sooo much better without it, but I don't chance. My neighbor's got a clear plate cover on the front, with the same contour as the original. Looks good, under the cover, but with a little body-matching paint, it could dress it up nicely!

I ordered a filler from Ecklers that will be painted to match my car.
Don't come around Richmond without one, or you surely will get a ticket. The Corvette Club of Richmond goes on a lot of crusies and we get stopped 90% of the time for people without front plates.

Having to run a front plate makes about as much sense as County Decals and Personel Property taxs. I asked an LEO not long ago why Va. requires two plates. This is in part what he said: It makes it easier to identify a suspect and his vehicle when he or she is leaving the crime area. What yall think?

VA criminals are excellent drivers ... they back away from all the crime scenes. I run a plate because in VA it's not about safety ... it's about revenue.

Correctorama!! Fairfax at last look: 65 million bucks in "excess" revenue. One day enough people will have had enough. For me, it was enough when I was told that the zoning setbacks had changed when I wanted to build a garage at the home I have had for 22 years. In the last 2 weeks.....my house is sold and I just closed today on a 2 acre place beyond Warrenton. That political crap will creep out my way, but in the meantime, I am out of here!! By the way.....the new place has a 2 car garage!!
Normally I have no issue withthe police since they're just out doing the things that need taking care of. I run without a front plate but realize it is only a matter of time. I try my best to stay out of Fairfax County where the cops are a royal pain. My daughter has a ricer (Honda that is really hooked up) and they have ticketed her for exhaust, car being too low, car having to dark of tint, non-stock tail lights, etc. Frankly, in Fairfax their rule is if it isn't a stock part write it up even if it is 50 state legal with DOT numbers. Two weeks ago they pulled her for her Greddy exhaust (good thing they didn't look under the hood to see her DC Ceramic coated headers!!) and told her it was too loud...she said if you think this is loud you should hear my dad's vette to which the cop said bring it over and he would write me up to. Go figure..........
Just drive em and if you get pulled just keep on smiling that you've should be ashamed of yourself smile as he writes the ticket......
My dad had our vette registered in New Mexico for the longest time. We went a whole year with expired tags so we wouldn't have to put that darn front plate on[stupid popo didn't even think about us having expired plates]. After we traded in the 99 to get the 04 we had to register it in va and have had the front plate on ever since
I live in Vienna, VA. Didn't put mine on for the first 6 months of owneship. Was then pulled over and given a warning. Plates been on ever since. I don't want to give LEO's another reason to pull me over...
