awesome there should be more cops like that in my area 
from a fellow mainer.... not too many of us on here.......i got stopped for having an obstructed front plate.... the gm bra covers part of the plate 
just got a warning though

I'm driving down the road today when a cop coming from the other direction does a quick u-turn... I wasn't speeding but am always awarer of my blatant disregard for the front plate law here in Maine, anyhow he was a town cop.
I pull into the next driveway, which happens to be town hall, where the police station is and of course he pulls behind me. He tells me I have to have a plate, I "BS" a little bit explaining that the car is seasonal (remember, I'm in Maine), and yada yada. He says his dad has a show car & does the same thing, so he issued a "warning". I asked him if he'd stop me the next time we cross paths. he said don't worry about it, but he had to so it this time around. As we're talking a black viper drives by & shortly after exits the grounds so I notice HE doesn't have a front plate... I said to the young cop... here's another one for you at which point he walks over and blocks the guys path to stop him. Well, he let him go too, it seems that he likes nice cars better than giving tickets. Pretty cool... maybe a benefit from living in a small town !

I am originally from Maine, and while visiting relatives in Bangor this past summer, I was pulled over by cops at a roadside stop (they were checking for illegal immigrants or something). The LEO checked license and registration then proceeded to ask me about not having a front plate OR an inspection sticker. Neither is required in FL, but I guess we shouldn't expect LEO's from all states to be aware of this. He did seem quite surprised, though.

I have a Tiger Shark front fascia and a plate would look totally stupid.
I have absolutely no intentions of ever putting a plate on.
But when I know I'm going to be out drink ... executively this is, I don't think about driving the C5, because not front plate only provides the probable cause.

Here's one for ya.
Towny boys give my kid a ticket (the real thing) for same thing. (I know what you're thinking, but that is the only ticket he got.)
My bride gets PO'd and goes into station to voice her concern. Beforehand she goes to commuter station with our digital and takes pic's of 25 cars without front plates.
Proceeds to show the Sarge the pic's, and then points out a vette parked right outside the station WITHOUT A PLATE. It was HIS.
Kid still had to go to court, but the cop didn't show.
Wife is still PO'd.
Figure that between my Corsa's and no plate, its a matter of time for me.
Duh.

When we lived in MO for awhile, we got stopped in KS for not having front plate on the MO registered Vette. Told KS officer the extra plate was in the cargo department and being from FL, we thought MO just issued a spare in case we lost one - - when he stopped laughing he let us go 
Never got stopped in KC, in fact the local KC LEO's would admire the car and say nothing about the missing plate.

I live in STL Mo and haven't put the front plate on my 00 yet. Haven't had the heart to ruin the look of the front of the car. When I had my 88 I got pulled over two times for no front plate, a year apart by the same LEO. The second time a year later he told me he remembered writing me the first ticket and he better not see me driving the car again without the front plate on. I finally broke down after the second ticket with the 88 and put the front plate on. In STL you normally only get harrassed in the high patrol areas where most of the cruising is going on, outside of those areas you are usually left alone.
