Default How are the centercaps attached?

I'm buying some OEM wagon wheels for my project ('89 Jag XJ6 with an LT1), so I'll be running adapters. My question is how are the centercaps on those wheels attached? I don't have the wheels in hand, so I can't look. I'm used to typical GM with double-threaded lug nuts, but that doesn't look to be the case. I just want to buy the right lug nuts. Thanks!

It's some sort of spring-loaded snap on.

Attached to the lug nuts, or centerbore of the wheel, or other? My main concern is buying non-compatible lug nuts.

They are spring loaded and just snap right in. Easily removed with flat blade screwdriver. They aren't attached to the lugs.

Best I can remember, on my '03 stock wheels, they are springy plastic with a barb on the end that holds it on once you push it in and easily removable if you have the wheel off. The whole thing's plastic, as I recall. There are indentations so the lug bolts will fit in, but they are not attached to the bolts.

Uhh, no he didn't, or this thread wouldn't have continued.

"It's some sort of spring-loaded snap on."

It snaps on to what? The wheel? The lug nuts? Who the hell knows? Chicago actually gave me the information I was looking for. Thanks for the more descriptive answers.

Easy big guy. What would you think it snaps to, the windshield?

Thinking to myself...do I really want to be an a-hole right after I got here?

Thank you for your valuable input.

It snaps to the centre hub hole. It fits over the lugs. If you use a standard lug nut like those that came with the wagon wheels you shouldn't have any clearance problems. I wouldn't use any lugs that stick out past the centre section of the wheel.

F off. Is that too late?

You added nothing valuable from the start. My question was not fully answered.

I deleted all my "questionable" posts. If he'll do the same, I'm done. I tried to kill the entire thread, but I don't suppose I can do that, huh? I'll keep looking. Thanks for all of the replies.

To answer your deleted question ... no you don't ... definitely. The natives are friendly and helpful unless provoked ... then ... watch out!

He wasn't provoked, not was his initial comment helpful or welcomed. I asked a simple question, which at that point, had NOT been directly answered. Had he taken the time to answer the question instead of incorrectly stating that it HAD been answered, we wouldn't be here right now.
