YES the whole windshield. Ive tinted (limo) my windshield on several of my cars and was thinking of doing my vette. the only issue is i have the hud and wonder if i would be able to see it?
BTW before the flamming starts. I know its against the law and i know visablity is slim to none at night without corrective lighting(aftermarket hyperlights) inwhich i have. but my car is a track/trailer queen only.
Not only would that look really stupid, it is extremely illegal and dangerous.
There are varying states of Illegal.
Had an impala ss years back and if I remember right had 55 or 60 percent on the front. Really knocked down the uv kept the interior cool living in FL. Don't know how it will effect the HUD though.
Tinting a windshield is legal!!!!!! Then on top of that is make NO SENSE whatsoever.
Uhhh...tinting a windshield is not legal. Only the top 6"or 7" can be tinted with legal tint (this may vary by state). But again that it is not his question.
I would suggest you get a piece of tint and place it on the windshield where the HUD is and see what it looks like, very simple.

how simple why didnt i think of that..Great idea thanks
His post says the WHOLE WINDSHIELD. ANd it is illegal in all states from my readings. Yes you can have the top 4 to 6 inches a darker tint. The OEM windshields come like that.
How does is not make sense? You tint the sides to block the sun/rays. You tint the rear to block the sun/rays. You would tint the front to ?hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm BLOCK THE SUN/RAYS

I think everybody on this forum is a cop. Jesus, lighten up. The guy asked for advice, not a lecture.

So you are saying that it is LEGAL to tint the whole windshield??? Not in my state or several others that I know of. Not sure where you are getting your "readings" from but you are wrong. I was a police officer for over 30 years and I am very familair with the laws regarding tinting.
Edit* Are you sure you are not trying to say "Illegal" as opposed to "LEGAL"?
It would be prudent to check with your local laws regarding the tinting of ANY of your car windows. However, in tinting the windshield itself, visibility for the driver becomes a very serious issue, especially after dusk. Be safe.
I have my full windshield tinted, I needed a medical waiver for the state of VA to get it though....It cuts down on the suns heat significantly. I havent been bothered by the police in the vette, but my camry has the same tint and I have been pulled a few times, but they let me go when they see my registration(in VA it has Sunshading written on it). I will never have a car again with out it.....sorry about the size for you dial up guys.... http://memimage.cardomain.net/member.../2172148_1.jpg
