The Z06 cost a little more than a convert and about $7000 more than a coupe.
I love my 02 Z06 and I have owned all generations - this is far and away the best CORVETTE other than the C6 Z06. Only thing that has disappointed me is that I do not like the looks of the new C6 so I bought a low mileage like new Z06.
Price of the 01 Z sounds like a good deal.

I like the way the coupe looks better. Plus the removable top is a must for me. BUT! I do wish I had the power of the Z! Even with all my mods, the Z06 is a way better performer. BUT the coupe is a better daily driver.

I've owned a modded 99 MN6 coupe and now my 03 Z. As one that has owned both types of platforms I can say with all honesty that the Z is better in every category used to measure a sports car performance envelope.

The Z has a "feel" to it that my modded 99 coupe didn't. Could be the extra weight of the coupe or the Z's 12% stiffer chassis, but whatever it was the Z feels more solid and secure. It's a better platform to mod from too.

You need to test drive both configurations to see if the differences are important to you. What I or other's have to say is of no consequences, it's your decision and money.

Mine is a daily driver (come rain or shine to include snow on occasion) and love it.

Good luck

Tom

I'm sure you've already got the point, but I'd go for the Z06.

Sounds like a good deal to me. The only questions to ask are do you like to have a removable roof panel/convertible top and how much room do you need for storing things on a trip? If those don't matter that much, then the Z06 is an excellent choice. Good luck.
