Couldn't do a search, so I thought I'd ask if anyone has experience with a Windjammer deflector that supposedly eliminates the buffeting on coupes when the top is off. I don't expect it to make the car dead silent or anything, but does it really eliminate the buffeting?
Thanks.

Interestingly, the numbskulls at GM shaped the car so that the top of the windshield is LOWER than the rear hatch. Gee, I wonder why the wind turbulence is so bad.
You can't even drive with the top off if you wanted to without going deaf, or getting a concussion from the buffeting! It should be illegal to be able to sell something like that. I'm still waiting for the recall campaign that will rectify the bad design.

I wonder if that Windjammer just installs into the stock front top retainers, so you can easily install it and remove it when you're going topless and later putting the top back on. On the other hand, wouldn't that make it easy to steal?
Should I really consider those hatch vent Mickey-Mouse (aka Jerry-rig) alternatives?
Thanks.

I have been using the Windjammer for three years, and I can highly recommend it. I am 6'5", so it is even more important for me. Yes, I guess it could be stolen, but then if the top is off and stowed in the rear, it could be stolen as well.
Bottom line, although a little pricey, it performs very well.
I agree. I've had a Windjammer for 5 years now and it significately reduces the wind noise in the cabin. I still get a little buffeting from the column directly behind and to the left of my head every once in a while but I would highly recommend the device.

the PIA factor for installation/removal was too high for me. Sent it back the day I received it.. I use the ventmasters if I've got thebabe with me, otherwise ..nothing
Hey Grumpy, how did the thing install that it was a PIA? I was hopinh you could quickly attach and remove it, so it wouldn't be an ordeal to put the top on or take it off when you feel like it. Does it require tools, or something?
It installs quickly with a allen wrench. The more you use it the easier it becomes but it will take a little time the first outing. It takes me about three minutes to install now and I'm on my way.
AHHHHH, the old allen wrench. This explains how it wouldn't be as easy to steal as it would be if all someone had to do was reach in and flip the stock top-retaining handles. Of course, if the car's parked in a dark alley for an extended period of time with the top off, losing a Windjammer would be the least of your worries!
Thanks for clarifying how it installs. I just ordered one from Eckler's. It was $25 cheaper than Mid-America.
