Dave
just changed my fluids today, i put 3.75 qts mobil1 atf in the tranny and mobil 1 75w 90 gear oil in the rear diff about 1.5 qts and a 7 oz tube of posi additive, both tranny and rear fluids were pretty dirty considering i have only 18,000 miles on my zo6, next weekend ill be doing the brake fluid since its the original fluid and starting to get a little dark in color so ill be good to go for a while
Diff takes 1.69 quarts of synthetic 75w90 with 4 oz of friction modifier. Some good fluids such as AMSOIL and Redline 75w90 come with the friction modifier pre-mixed in (note Redline 75w90NS does not have the additive).
Thanks for your help guys. I got access to a lift today at my old high school. Took about 20 mins for me to pull into the stall and get my car onto the lift cause im so low. Had to use boards to get into the bay doors and then more boards to get onto a 4 post lift along with jacking up the rear end once the front was on and we just pushed the rest of the car onto the lift. It was interesting lets say. Diff, trans, motor oil where easy to change. Coolant flush and refill was pretty messy, cause when we were draining there was a lot of splash back. Now onto the the brake system flush. We ran denatured alcohol through the system first to get all the old crap out. And then added the fresh stuff. Let me tell you that this took longer than expected. And used more brake fluid then we thought as well. It only took about half a quart to flush the system with the alcohol and it took about a little over a quart and a half to get the alcohol out. But all in all, my baby is ready for winter
when should i look to change the diff and tranny fluids?
no clu, but i figured as long as im under there, might as well change em all. Ive got 31,000 miles. When i changed my diff adn tranny, i was happy to see it was clean of metal shavings
Great info and good maintenance! I have 4 quarts of RP in my truck waiting to change out this week, after my line lock arrives (shift light too). Good winter work but it has been so nice here... seems like fall.

Where did you read that alcohol can be used to flush a C5 ABS brake system? I thought that just flushing it through with new dot 4 fluid was good enough.
Please let me know if this is a GM aproved method of brake system maintenance. I have to flush mine SOON!
