Default Wheel clearance & Alcons

I’m trying to add 18x12 wheels (w. 345 rubber) in the rear, and ordered a set of Lingenfelter Signature series wheels, sized to clear my Alcons. Well, the first set of wheels delivered earlier this year didn’t come close to fitting. Spoke w. Lingenfelter and HRE, and arranged a road trip to bring the car and wheels to HRE for measurements. An interesting shop, with all wheels coming off of 4 CNC machines at their business offices. Also, nice guys.

Well, my second set of wheels arrived Friday. Better clearances, but they still hit the corners of my calipers. I suspect my options are to have HRE build me yet another set, but these would likely have a greater positive offset, resulting in greater bearing stress and a more protruding wheel. Alternatively, I can grind the leading edge off the corners of these pricey rear 4-pot calipers. I’ll call Baer tomorrow and see what they think, and also give HRE a call to find my best option.

An interesting hobby

You have discovered the challange with BBKs. The wheels need the proper offset to fit over the calipers.

Plus with those big rear tires, my guess is they will stick out beyond the fender. Tubbing is not an option and do 345s even fit on a 12" rim ??

If HRE did not know what the proper offset is for BBKs, try CCW or Kodiak.

Normally only 3 piece racing wheels have the offset for BBKs

Good luck
