After reading the thread from NOT-MEE about his accident, I thought it would be a good idea to suggest to my forum family to buy one of those 35mm disposable cameras to keep in your glove box. That way if you have an accident you can take pictures of everything and everyone involved. These cameras are cheap and it could save you thousands of dollars.
Thats is a great idea, I have done that in the past. The problem is the sun in July makes the car over 120 degrees and the film melts. I went to use for something else (bald eagle sighting) and when I went to wind the film, it snapped.
Do they make a throw away camera that can with stand the heat?

What he said. I have taken pics with a camera after being exposed to heat, only to have the processed pics come out blank.

You're supposed to rotate cameras for just this reason... I believe it was every year. The film can be adversely affected by the heat. Good additon to a good reminder!
When ever I go out I always have my digital camera on me. It’s just habit; grab the keys, cell, wallet, and cam. Never know what going to happen and what good photo spots I may come across on my drive.

The camera cell phone sounds like a good idea.
I had a throw away in the Vette for only two months. When I went to take a photo of something, the film snapped. For giggles, I opened up the camera only to find part of the film melted into a blob. Florida heat kills everything.
Got a new cellphone with a camera last week. Works great -- except now I wish I would have gotten the 2 megapixel model.

A few years back I had a pinhead in a small school bus side swipe me at a redlight. Up here we have these STUPID reporting centers you have to go to ( if vehicle is not severely damaged ), well what happens is each driver blames the other for the damage. Luckily my insurance company believed me ( and the fact the damage started at the rear of my truck and went forward ) so I didn't get screwed on my premiums. Now if I had a camera with me at the time a picture would have clearly shown who was responsible. Lesson learned
Cheap digital cameras are a best bet in the case of heat. You can use them forever and drop the pics on the computer immediately and send them to ins. companies as well. Good times. I totaled my last car (not my fault) and took pics with my phone. Worked great.
Would a digital pic hold up in court, if necessary? Heck, does a negative even count anymore? What's to stop someone from photographing a digital pic with a film camera?
I just bought a 2 Megapixel camera phone, and it got me to wondering, if I had to use it to legally document an accident, would it really be admissable?
I figgered, if you got dozens of shots, at different angles, and they all told a consistent story, it'd convince any rational person that, yeah, this series of pictures are nigh impossible to photoshop. No?
