I was speeding 77 in a 55mph zone. Past a truck that was frogging around and a trooper was sitting just down the road. This was at 11 pm. Got my ticket so can I plead for mercy?
The town JP is a good guy and owns corvettes. I just don't feel much like taking my punishment for this. I would rather not have to let my wife find out about me speeding.
i really don't see what your grounds would be to defend your actions? sounds like the truck was doing the speed limit. IMHO take your punishment and pay the fine.
I always go to court for my tickets. Sometimes the cops don't show and at the worst you will have to pay the same fine. Usually they cut the points a little in court.
If you plead Not Guilty chances are good the cop won't show for the trial (particularly if it's his day off) works for me.
sorry, but thats some stupid advice. in my dept., my previous dept., we HAD to be in court if we had a case on the docket. every friend i have that works in law enforcement says thier dept. is the same way. my advice is to go to court. ive had numerous cases go through and the person pleads guilty and the judge waves the points and the person just pays the fine. nothing goes on the record. now alot of this depends on the subject's attitude, driving record, speed, etc. i usually have no objection to a person paying the fine and having the ticket reduced.
If the truck was doing less than 55 and you sped up only long enough to pass him safely then the question is if 77 was a reasonable speed in which to pass him.
Keep re-scheduling your court date. The policeman/woman have better things to do than keep trying to meet your schedule, no cop in court, no ticket to pay

Are you sure this is right? My brother had to go a few weeks ago and the cop did not show up and the judge just continued it...? I thought it the cop did not show up they just dismissed the case. But they didn't for him.
I just call my brother and find out when his comrad is off duty or on vacation and then schedule the court date accordingly!!! Has worked many times!!! Love it !!!!!!!!!!!!
