Removing screen on MAF sensor
A few weeks ago I met a guy at the track with a ZO6 and he told me that he removed the screen on his MAF.
What is the purpose of this and is it 100% safe? I'll be running the new vararam as an intake and thought while I have everything off I'd ask.
Thank you for your input!

I've heard 50/50 on this...
A guy I know did it and swears by it...
Another did it and said it didn't seem to make a difference to him.
Then I learned the Z06 comes without it?
Decisions, decisions

IMHO it is not worth the risk of running to lean. Most people report the car running to lean after the screen removal. Plus the sensor is over $300 to replace if you break it.

Yes, you may run lean. To really obtain the benefit that is intended with this mod, get a tune. And, yes, the C5 Z06's (nor, do the Granatelli MAF's) do not have screens. Basically, my screen has been removed for three years, and, I have had no problems. Moreover, I am very meticulous with regular engine maintenance and care. Good luck to you.
