I've been wanting some of these for a while, but how do they work, do they use the origional bulbs and just illuminate it differently, or does it use a bunch of tiny bulbs????? How would you replace the bulbs if one goes out.

Sorry for the ignorance.
Ive got these Halo LED type ones on my car as well. They are a replacement of your stock lens. Dont use bulbs, but instead a bunch of what looks like 5mm LEDs.
LEDs normally dont go out, thats why most new high end cars are going all LEDs for the tail lights. Average life on the LEDs are rated in the 100,000 hrs range. But if it does go out, replacing it will not happen easily, in these assemblies you would have to crack open the sealed/molded unit, it was probably be easier to just buy a new one.

These are "Light Emitting Diodes", should last 25,000 to100,000 HRS.minimum.The whole T.L. unit is replaced with a top quailty sealed unit.About 3 mins. per lite, makes the stock unit look pretty crappy.
