Default Help - Green brake pads

Hi guys,
Today i decided i will change my brake pads. So i went to utoZone to get some Morse Ceramic Pad for both front and rear. Got home and started the process. Well calipers came off and first thing i noticed was the pads were green and much smaller than the onces i just bought not to mention that it wasn't green. So i quickly packed the pads i bought and drove back to AutoZone to return them. Attached below are some pictures of the current (rear) pad and rotor.... I think the pads has a writing like EBC on it... Does anyone know where i can find these particular pads. One other thing i noticed was when i used the parking breaks on an incline the car continues to roll. Is it because i didn't push the piston back?

BTW, the front brake is the same color and the rotors the same as the rear.

I raced on EBC pads for years. They're excellent. The color of the EBC pads indicates the compound. They are available from Pep Boys according to http://www.ebcbrakes.com/

...re: parking brake - those are actually separate pads that are inside the back of the rear discs. Unless they are completely worn out you can adjust the cable actuator by pulling up the handle and engaging reverse. You shouldn't have to move in reverse much at all before the vehicle is stopped by the parking brake and that should do it.

EBC's are good pads. You can replace with whatever you like though. The e-brake is totally separate and sounds to be out of adjustment.

I your car had EBC race pads, you will not like ceramic pads at all. Your car will feel like it takes for ever to stop with ceramic pads.

The EBC Greenstuff's are advertised for lighter weight cars but I found them to be not too bad on the track. They don't have quite as much cold torque on the street as the stock Z pads but they are virtually dustless, so make good streeters. I found out about them from my Viper friends who put them on their "trophy cars" so as not to get anything dirty!

I use Morse Ceramic pads for daily driving for the low dust. No issues. Good price.

You are right about that... The car stops really quick/fast. I am now having doubts if i really want to give that up and go with ceramic. Ohh why is it that i am getting conflicting statements about EBC vs Ceramic on the dust issue. So which one really dust less??

That is the challange but really not a conflict.

Less dust does not equal better stopping. Better stopping does not equal performance brake pads. You have to choose between the two.

Ceamic brake pads have their place in the automotive industry. They were designed to reduce dust and last longer. But at the slight expense of longer stopping. Up to 5% longer to stop your car. So under normal braking if with stock pads it takes 100 feet to stop with ceramics 105 feet. Now the real challange comes in under hard braking or emergancy braking look at 15-20% longer. Ceramics can not take extreamly hard braking, and especially repeated hard braking. The ceramics will just glaze over from the heat and not work well.

For normal street driving they are fine.

C5 ZO6 pads are a great stopping pad, but do have a normal amount of dust. Hawk HPS, HP+ have lots of dust, Hawk pads are known for dust but also work quite well for street use.

in short Performance braking and low to no dust is an oxymoron.

I have used a dozen differenty types of pads. PPl have given me differnt pads and say try them. Yah right. one weekend and I take them back as the car does not stop. Granted I am not a wuss on the brakes.

For street use we have stock C5 pads on my wifes street vette. I use Wilwood Hs and have use PFC-01s on my track car.

Good Luck
