I know how everyone seems to slam GM dealerships. Last month the transmission on my wife's 2002 Yukon went out. It was 6 months out of the 3/36 warrantee. I did not have an extended warrantee.
I called the local GMC dealership and told them what happened. They had a tow truck at my house within the hour. The vehicle went in on Monday and the repairs were completed by Thursday.
I did not buy the car at that particular dealership. I would say this is outstanding service.
I took my 04 Z in for a recall, the one where they replace the nuts/bolts on the suspenson. I made an appointment and was told it would be a 2 hour job. I brought my laptop and was prepared to wait for it and I figured on 4 hours..
I made the service rep walk the car and told him it was perfect and I wanted it back that way. He had the mechanic come and get the car instead of the guy who shuffles the cars into the back lot.
I told him I would be in the waiting room... he then asked if I wanted a rental car so I wouldn't have to wait...
3 hours later I got a call and it was ready to go. They had it sitting off to the side in the service bay area.
Everything went well, I recieved the same level of service I get at the Lexus dealership.

Hi, nowhere in your post do you say who paid for the repairs. The dealer can do all that and still bill you?

Since we haven't been too enchanted with any of the dealers we've tried in the Charlotte area, and I noticed that you're here in the Queen City, could you tell us which dealer you went to? Thanks in advance.

This was at City Chevy... It was my second trip to the dealer in 5 years.... both were good experiences
Let's see
GM dealer #1 dealer the Vette was bought at.... took it in for a 4 wheel alignment came home with a cracked hood.... the technician left a wratchet on top of the engine and slammed the hood....
Dealer #2 My wife tooks hers in for an oil change..... and came home with a $700 bill...... They advised her at 25K miles it needed and engine power flush , a fuel sytem power flush and a rad power flush and a transmission power flush .... all thatq hard earned money flushed down the drain....

Very nice story.Just to let you guys know the Service Manager at a dealer has full control of what he will "Good Will" to a customer.
I have dealt with the same Chevy dealer for years. Bob Hook Chevy in Louisville, KY. I bought my 97 Z-28 there and had it serviced there for 7 years until I sold it in 04. I ordered my 03 vette there and have had it serviced there. They are always kind and carefull. I have been given rental cars when it takes longer than 1 day. They put a power window motor in my Z-28 3 months past the 36 month warrenty. So far in my experiences they have hever messed up one of my cars.

Hey Jim2003. Maybe it's a KY thing but my service manager @ Thoroughbred Chevy here in Lexington, KY. actually owns a C5. Parks all Vettes inside overnight too.
guys it aint no lie a dlr service mgr HAS controll over who and what is fixed under "good will" they have a limit as to how much depending on the amount of service/ parts work done. but they can and will go to bat for you if they. #1 feel as though you will return as a customer, and #2 they are treated with the same respect you would want from them. talk with them about stuff like this. not the service writer. they earn their paychecks from you, on a commision basis. the SERVICE MANAGER!! if then you dont get satisfaction ask for the zone rep. my wifes burb was broke into on 11-23-05 the thief was in the burb when they came out of the mall. the only reason he didnt get away is she hit the unlock button to get in and it killed the car and rearmed the alarm. can you imagine what the steering column looked like.
the dlr fixed this 05 for $285.00 for me. the parts, not list but their cost was $208.45. this thing was a huge mess. nothing there but shaft and steering wheel, and a whole lot of tore up parts and wires. not all these dlrs are bad anymore. they need us customers just as much if not more than we need them. and they have come to understand this now. as far as the $700 oil change, that service writer needed somebody to crawl up his
as- for that. wonder how many oil changes you'll go there for???
