Bought mine from Mid America for about $20 if I remember correctly. I couldn't understand why anyone would "design in" such a nuisance, it's also dangerous!
That was the first mod I did. I could not stand it forcing me to shift from 1-to-4 in heavy traffic. Just buy the $20 kit, back the car up onto your rhino ramps and 15-minutes later, no more shift worries!

Is it needed - no. But it sure makes driving the car a whole lot more fun. It will disable the forced 1-4 shift under certain driving conditions - you will have total control over what gear you shift into. For $20 and about 5 minutes of install time, it's well worth the price.

There was a post on this forum that showed you how to do the defeat. Radio shack sells the transistors in a (4) pak for $.99. The caps for $.99 and a little electrical tape and your done. AND $18 bucks ahead!!! I've done (2) of my vettes and (2) friends whith NO issues to date.

It was designed so we don't have to pay a gas guzzler tax on top of our MSRP.

what resistors did u use?
can you give me some info on this?
i want to do this as well thanks
Even though the skip-shift helps Chevy achieve their CAFE numbers I'm not going to have a manual shifted car dictate to me when I can or cannot shift
Second mod I bought years ago right behind a CLB. Could care less about saving pennies after what I've pumped into this car in the way of mods so I bought a "premade" one for around $20.
Hey folks ive been wanting to do this mod,is it as easy as its made out to be?I did the CLB and it took me a little longer than everyone said.I hate that every once in awhile im trying to fight the car into 2nd.

You can even get the light edited out so you can forget it was ever there.

YES!! It IS as easy as it's made out to be. Once you get under the car if it takes you longer than five minutes to install the CAGS eliminator then you're just plain messin' around
The 1 to 4 shift only cuts in if you around around 12% of throttle and at 2000 rpm in 1st( #'s approx)
So if you have the throttle open more... it won't kick in.
It seems only to happen when you ar ein heavy ,slow moving traffic and can't drive at the speed nor accelerate the way the Vette was designed to drive.... ie.... it is a pain in the butt that re-appears when you least want it.
The skip shift (CAGS) eliminator is well worth the $20, 20 minutes it takes to install.... think of it as skipping one McDonalds meal to avoid a lifetime of annoying inconvenience.....
