It depends on how your drive and brake. If normal street driving your fine. Look at your brake pads or check your owners manual. Change your pads at 30%. and IMHO flush you brake fluid every 2 years in all your vehicals.
Brake fluid looses its abilty as it become saturated with water. Water satureation is 4% in brake fluid, which under normal use is 6 to 18 months. Saturated brake fluid can take up to 25% longer but in most cases 10% longer to stop your car. If you have an emergancy situation even longer to stop.

J/K! Depends on the type of driving you do - all highway driving is a lot easier on the brakes than city driving. Also - competition driving has a tendency to eat up the pads, too.

on a serious note: my stock pads had 24K before I swapped them out, they've got about half their life left in them, I've still got them around as a get home/emergency set
1. When you get tired of seeing brake dust cover your wheels. OR,
2. When you no longer see brake dust on your wheels (and haven't changed to ceramic or Hawk pads yet.)
