my stocker sat for two weeks and i tried to start it today and was completly dead, thought it would last longer than that before going completly dead so i charged it with a 10amp charge.
It started and now have the 1.5amp trickle on it but the charger is indicating 'trouble' wont take a full charge, it's stored in the garage for the winter and will install a new battery come springtime will resesrch the DH Gold amongst others
I've got a pair of 10 year old red tops in my hummer - best batteries ever.
Man, I sure would like to know your secret. I went thru 3 Red Tops in a little more than 4 years (dead cell, dead cell, dead cell). I wouldn't have another Red Top it you gave it to me for free. I'm happy they work for you. Good luck...
I understand that the long term view on Optimas have been that they are the best around, but I also understand that there was a recent blip in their quality and overall performance. Not sure why. I have an Optima I but in a year and 1/2 ago and no problems.

Good plan. Make sure you pull it out of the car. The computer is under the battery tray. If it leaks....... There are also some wierd symptoms when a battery dies.
I've had the instant and total failure and a "leaker". Luckily the laeker was in the Camaro and I caught it before it did any damage.
I did a poll a short while ago. As one member pointed out, it wasn't very scientific. It did, however, flag up the fact that there are a lot of problem AC Delco batteries out there.
Mine died the same way, worked great when I turned it off, then nothing when I went to use it the next morning.
I went to dealer, they wanted too much. My service advisor (who I do trust) told me I could get a better deal elsewhere. I went to Sears, they told me they would not replace the battery unless they tested it first. They wanted to charge me $25 to test a battery that I knew was bad!
I then went to Advance Auto parts. They actually came outside and replaced the battery for me! This was three years ago and the battery is still working for the guy I sold my first C5 to.

My horrible o.e. battery died, left me stranded, AND, was not even rechargeable (would not hold a charge). Replaced the P.O.S. culprit with a red top optima, and, have been pleasantly trouble free for over three years.
Typical, typical. The ACDelco AGM batteries are known for sudden death. They'll work fine in the morning, but be completely dead at lunchtime. They became so unreliable, GM stopped using them after the '03 model year.
Now if you are going with a regular lead acid battery with side terminals, be very cautious about acid leaks. They've fried the wires and electronics directly under the battery of many vettes.

Funny how batteries can just all of a sudden die on you. Hope the DieHard lasts for a long time.
My 01 battery died just like that .... no warning.
Got a boost, drove it home, wouldn't accept a charge at all. I'm guessing a high resistance or open circuit in the battery. like a bad cell strap or something.
My '00 still has the original one in it. I've just started to notice some strange things; DIC resets on it's own. Lights dim a bit at idle. Time to shop for a new one!!
