Default Flush Mount Tail Light Install - Help

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...5&page=1&pp=20

There seems to be some discrepancy as to where the weather strip should go (using the Lowes Flush Mount Tail Light Kit ). Are you going around the light or behind it? I tried going around the light lens. It looks OK – nice tight fit (real tight) – but you can see the weather strip. If I were to go behind the light (like in the link above) I should still get a nice fit but you’ll have a void space (right??). Is this making any sense? Those that have been there – done that – please let me know which direction you went. Thanks.

When we did my good buddy's lights, we first put it behind the red lens (on the black part of the housing) per the instructions... water would still build up.

Then we finally put in on the edge of the red lens... worked better IMO.

Hope this helps.

A search of Flush Tail Lights will give you numerous recipes for installing your tail lights in this configuration. The most widely used dimension/brand of weather-stripping seems to be 5/16" X 3/8" auto/marine closed cell foam gasket material.
The more time I spend on this - it looks like this is something you just have to experiment with (to suite your own individual taste). It would be hard for me to describe a step by step "how to".
