"" Nissan has developed the world’s first clear-coat that repairs scratches on painted car surfaces, including scuffs from car-washing machines, off-road driving and fingernails. “Scratch Guard Coat” contains a newly developed high elastic resin that helps prevent scratches from affecting the inner layers of a car’s painted surface. Any scratches that don’t penetrate the clear coat will disappear within day to a week, depending on temperature and the depth of the scratch. The water-repellant paint also has a higher initial resistance to scratches compared with conventional clear paints. A vehicle painted with “Scratch Guard Coat” will have only one-fifth the abrasions caused by a car-washing machine compared with a car covered with conventional clear paint. Scratches from car-washing machines account for the majority of scratches or scuffs to painted car surfaces. “Scratch Guard Coat” is effective for about three years. The technology will be applied for the first time on an SUV model that is “scheduled for a partial makeover in the near future.” Read on for more ‘before and after’ photos…. ""
they had somehting like this on the history channel for modern marvels or something like that on paint. they mentioned that paint was in the process of being self repairing. Like it has small pockets of paint or something like that and when it gets ruptured paint will slowly fill the scratch or the missing thing. If they get it working right, it would be great....i wonder what the cost would be though
Nano....they along with Diemler and other have been working on it for a few years. Looks like they will be the first to market. From what I understand the down fall is it has a life for about 5 years in a harsh climate and the cost to repair is .
I was also told thet you will never get a match that any repair would need a complete car repainted....not sure I can believe thsi.
I seriously doubt the “nano technology” is in reality involved in this paint repair. They can call it what ever they want to, but I believe the term is being used incorrectly in this application. The premise of nano technology is to build microscopic machines that could be made to perform any task they are programmed to do. They would be small enough to inject into a persons circulatory system to make repairs that would otherwise need to be performed by a surgeon.
I think that kind of technology, in the true sense of the term, is many many years away, if it is in fact ever developed.
There are so many false claims with paints and paint sealants, that I won't accept the claims until it's proven. If you guys remember, when acrylic enamels were first introduced in the mid 60's? They said it never needed waxing or any care other than washing. Of course 3 years later that proved to be Then the miracle Imron was introduced late 70's/early 80's with the same claims. It's wishful thinking, but I won't accept it as factual until proven so.
