Help! Need Help with Exhaust...
i just got back from my friend's shop and had some
Z06 Exhaust put on my 00 C5 Coupe.
I previously had the bolt on Oval tips with corvette logo that you can see in the mags, ecklers, etc.
I feel a slight improvment in performance with the new Z06 exhaust
but I hate the way the stock tips look in comparision with what I had
Can I cut those Z06 tips and add my bolt ons back on or is that stupid?
sorry, I loved seeing those big chrome tips hanging out with my plate in the middle.

sure can, just cut off the new ones, cut the ends off the old ones, and weld the old ones onto the new pipes
it is all just metal tubing
I would recommend a muffler shop do the job
I did something similar with my custom Borla XR1 set up with carbon fiber canon tips

I am going to go over the morning and take a look at what he can do...
The ones I have don't have another pipe attached, they are 4 seperate extensions that have a plate that locks 2 together on each side with a wing nut and some screws, pretty cheesy but they look great, make the back end look more menacing
thanks!

The Z06 exhaust is Titanium, if I am not mistaken you cant just weld onto it, it takes a special type of weld.
Also I think adding extensions or tips by wingnuts is a little tacky IMHO

I never thought of that, the Z06 exhaust is titanium, that is the whole allure of it, the car does not sound any different, and the tips are just standard now, I am almost sorry I did it.
my friend gave me the exhaust for free, and I had it put on for free
so I guess I have not lost any money, but the way it looks, ugh.
am I just being silly about the whole thing?
I really want some speedway tips on there!
thanks

Since you are not out any money, take them off and sell them for a few hundred (or be a nice guy and pass them on to someone for free like you got them) and buy another set. There are many options to choose from but I am partial to the GHL's for sounds and looks.

those spinners are terrible, IMHO.
I hope you were only joking, but if not,
you are entitled to your own tastes
anyway thanks for the advice, I think I may wait until spring and unload the Ti's and get B&B Tri Flo with the Speedway tips.
how much can I ask for the Ti's if I take them off?
cheers

the z06 exhaust is worth between 350 and 450 depending on condition, I'm sure he was kidding about the spinner exhaust tips

I, too, like the more aggressive looking tailpipes. Went with the Quad Borlas. Aggressive look; aggressive sound. Nuff said.
